Hi guys! My name is Rebecca. Or Becca. Or Becks. Or "Hey Beautiful Lady!" (you know, whatever seems fitting at the moment.) I've been with AIM for a couple years now, leading various Real Life trips and helping out around the office (pretty sure I interviewed at least a couple of you, in which case, glad you're on board and can't wait to meet you in person!). I've been to Israel once before and absolutely fallen in love with the people there. Actually, I was just today looking back on the journal I kept during those months, and was struck by how often I prayed that God would send me back to that beautifully copious, yet incredibly famished place. I love how He keeps His promises! You'll soon find that the people there are as broken as any, if not more so, marred by the ancient frictions over land and freedom and entitlement.
Anyway, this is supposed to be a bio of myself, so I guess we can save those discussions for the month we'll be together. But as you can see, those people are one of my greatest passions. People in general, actually. I love hearing someone's story, and look forward to hearing all of yours. When I'm not out on the field, or in the office, your best chance of finding me is to look in one of the following places: sitting by the lake in Gainesville, GA, book in hand; working on some piece of art (confession: I'm an easily distracted pray-er, and art and photography has become my way of capturing my attention on a specific need or person); enjoying the gift of community with my close friends in Georgia – or Colorado – or California – or Arkansas; or pondering the deep things of life with anyone and everyone that will join me. Wow, that was a run-on sentence if I ever wrote one...which brings me to my other greatest passion: writing. J
I guess there's a lot more to me than two paragraphs, but here's the only other thing you need to know right now: I absolutely believe that God has called each one of you to this trip, for this time, during this season of your life. And because I believe that so deeply, I'm praying now for every one of you, that God's provision will be seen in everything from your support raising to your last minute packing to an absolutely unforgettable, Spirit-led, community rich, Kingdom building month of June 2010.
See you in a few short weeks.
